What You Will Do The Maintenance and Site Services (MSS) Division is a multidisciplinary organization whose primary mission is to provide the Laboratory, both nuclear and non-nuclear facilities, with safe, reliable, and efficient infrastructure maintenance and utilities support.
The Maintenance and Site Services Utilities & Infrastructure Group (MSS-UI) is seeking an experienced Work Execution Manager (WEM) to support the Utilities & Infrastructure Facility Operations Directorate (UI-FOD). The selected candidate will report to the MSS-UI group leader and will be responsible for providing day to day support, budgetary oversight, and schedule compliance direction to the utility system superintendents in the areas of electric, steam, water, wastewater, and gas. The WEM will collaborate with several stakeholders within the FOD and across the laboratory. This position is required to participate in the UI Duty Officer program to cover off-hours operations.
Duties and Responsibilities of the WEM:
- Direct and control the execution of maintenance efforts related to UI FOD Utilities IAW AP-WORK, Conduct of Maintenance, and Integrated Work Management System directives.
- Work in close cooperation with Utilities Operations and Engineering to provide guidance and support for UI-FOD goals as directed by the maintenance manager.
- Provide input and analysis for the UI-FOD Annual Maintenance Work Plan budget effort.
- Collaborate with the UI-FOD engineering to identify and implement Preventive Maintenance requirements for existing and newly installed equipment.
- Direct maintenance procedure generation, review, and implementation.
- Attend daily Plan of the Day (POD) meetings for status updates and scheduling.
- Qualify and act as a rotational back-shift coverage provider.
- Provide maintenance project support for small project efforts when directed by the maintenance manager or UI-FOD.
- Interface with FOD, Program, and Tenant representatives to identify, address, and resolve operational and maintenance issues.
- Participate in succession planning with future candidates within the Maintenance portfolio.
What You Need Minimum Job Qualifications: Facility Management: Extensive knowledge of utility systems, structures, and components. Extensive knowledge of and experience with facility management including systems engineering design and maintenance, safety/authorization basis, configuration management programs, work control, facility control systems, major construction projects, and upgrades and/or renovations.
Maintenance Operations: Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics. Extensive understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures. Demonstrated experience and skill in identifying problem areas, investigating alternative solutions, and determining action to be performed on problems affecting maintenance and site services programs and processes.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience and skill in management, supervision, and human resource administration of assigned employees. Demonstrated skill in the preparation and presentation of oral and written reports.
Technology: Experience with using Asset Suites, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), or similar software program(s).
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
- In depth knowledge of LANL maintenance program policy and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and present safety and technical briefings to large groups of a diverse workforce representative of all levels of workers.
- Familiarity with Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance, and work control processes and related software.
- Knowledge of the Laboratory's organizational structure.
- Active Q Clearance.
- Understanding of FOD functionality.
- Experience working with collective bargaining units.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status.

Incentive Compensation Program: Position is eligible to participate in the Triad Incentive Compensation Program. You must be in an eligible position for a minimum of 3 months, before July 1st and remain in an eligible position as of the end of the fiscal year, September 30th. The annual distribution is prorated based on the number of months in the eligible position.
