Part-Time Anthropology Instructor (Pool) The Colleges seek a part-time faculty member in Anthropology. The ideal candidate will share the Colleges’ commitment to educating a racially and socioeconomically diverse student population. This position is a “pool” position meaning that openings may or may not be currently available. The District maintains a “pool” of applications for positions which are needed on an ongoing basis at Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College. Your application for this position will be kept current for a period of two years. Duties and Responsibilities Ability to teach any of the following courses in the Anthropology Department: Introduction to Archaeology, Introduction to Physical Anthropology, Physical Anthropology Laboratory, Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Ethnographic Film, Archaeology Field Experience, Travel Study in Anthropology, and/or Anthropology Cooperative Education/Work experience. Consult with students during regularly scheduled office hours. Maintain expertise in current teaching and discipline technologies. Perform other duties as required by contract, collective bargaining agreement, and general institutional needs. The College offers day and evening classes. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a Master’s or above in anthropology or archaeology OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s or above in sociology, biological sciences, forensic sciences, genetics or paleontology OR the equivalent Demonstrated cultural competence, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Recent successful experience in teaching anthropology courses at the college-level Understanding and commitment to the role and purpose of the community college Acceptance of the division’s commitment to established academic standards Commitment to using writing as an evaluative assessment Knowledge of the use of technology in teaching Ability to use and develop teaching methods that emphasize cooperation and collaboration Ability to organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with different abilities and cultural experiences Ability to develop instructional learning outcomes and to assess students’ achievement Commitment to integrating writing skills across the curriculum #J-18808-Ljbffr
