Description:

The individual is responsible for the overall supply chain management of the FL facility of Perricone Farms. Logistics Manager responsibilities include the organization, and monitoring of all storage locations to include material and finished goods. To manage inventory levels to ensure business growth and customer satisfaction. This position is responsible for overseeing the shipping/receiving of inbound/outbound products to include juice, packaging supplies and finished goods both directly and through the utilization of third-party carriers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following:

  • Working with Purchasing and establishing supply inventory levels that meet operation demands while reducing excessive inventory levels.
  • Working with plant manager and sales team to develop accurate forecasting methods to support a just-in-time system that will build inventory levels to an appropriate balance. Both materials and packed products.
  • Working directly with customer service and operations to assure proper inventory accuracy and completion of order shipments are complete and on time.
  • Familiar with Department of Transportation (DOT) rules/regulations and determines legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits.
  • Create and maintain a work schedule for employee that is conducive to the production process, maximizes efficiency and minimizes overtime.
  • As directed by the Plant Manager coordinate the receipt and delivery of supplies, ingredients, and packed product to and from our facility. This includes creating an accurate bill of lading upon the shipment of products from our location.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all drivers, yourself included, that encounter customers or vendors maintain a clean, professional appearance at all times.
  • In collaboration with the Perricone maintenance team and outside vendors ensure the Perricone fleet of vehicles (Trucks, Yard Dogs & Trailers) are operational and safe. To include preventive maintenance program is upkept for the Perricone fleet of vehicles.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance reports, including but not limited to pre & post trip inspections, vehicle repairs and preventative maintenance performed.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Daily, retrieves, verifies accuracy, and completion of production data.
  • If Food and/or Employee safety is jeopardized, you are responsible for reporting unsafe conditions and/or acts to the Plant Manager immediately. If possible, attempt to remedy the unsafe condition and/or act.
  • Responsible for understanding, complying, and implementing company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring the proper use of all machinery and creating a safe work environment.
  • Flexibility to work varying schedule as needed by the shipping department,
  • Controls product standards, accuracy of shipments and receiving of products transferred from the facility, using accuracy programs and applied systems.
  • Maintains daily production and accuracy records.
  • Coordinates product rotation and space allocation.
  • Conducts daily meetings to discuss safety, productivity, and accuracy.
  • Communicates with Transportation on the flow and receiving of loads between facilities.
  • Supervises scheduling of outbound load appointments.
  • Management of all warehouse locations and the yard to ensure that safety, security, sanitation, and pest control policies, and company policies are maintained.
  • Ensures the most economical and efficient use of equipment and personnel to accomplish assigned work.
  • Reviews load sheets daily to determine shipping priorities and work assignments, to meet scheduled shipping times.
  • Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment in cooler, trailers and trucks and lays out position of shipment.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded trailers and truck doors, as necessary.
  • Prior to loading trailers inspect to ensure cleanliness, free of debris, rodents, and foul odors.
  • Upon loading, inspect all products to ensure they are free of leaks, appropriately palletized and shrink wrapped to eliminate any damage during transit.
  • Inspects equipment used in shipping daily for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
  • Understand and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) daily.
  • Daily, adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Understands and complies with regulatory standards and certifications such as SQF, USDA and HACCP.
  • Ensure that all SQF, Organic, Non-GMO procedures are followed to prevent cross -contamination.
  • Evaluate staff performance.
  • Responsible for ensuring staff are appropriately trained in their department. Provide coaching and guidance to staff on an on-going basis and disciplinary action as needed.
  • Communicates with Plant Manager the inability to fulfill orders and provides feedback as to why.
  • Be an ongoing advocate for both Food safety and Employee safety.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 15-20 employees within the logistics department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees in collaboration with Human Resources and addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); five years of experience in the related field as an individual contributor and 1-3 years supervisory experience. APICS Certification preferred.

Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to effectively use Microsoft Outlook for e-mail communication as well as basic word processing software such as Excel for creating product pallet tags. Ability to utilize industry specific software for the purpose of maintaining accurate inventory.
