ABOUT THE COMPANIONSHIP:

Do you enjoy iced lattes, restaurants, YouTube, walking, shopping, movies, music, painting, and more?

Are you creative, patient, energetic, communicative, organized, and flexible? Are you ready to help someone on the road to achieving maximum independence and community inclusion?

As a companion, you will move into an individuals large, beautiful home in the Fox Chapel, PA area, and act as live-in support when additional staff cannot be present. In this 1:1 environment, you have the opportunity to remain committed to outside obligations while receiving free housing in exchange for your companionship. The companions apartment is fully furnished, air-conditioned, and is equipped with a small kitchen and bathroom. In this setting, you can maintain your privacy while still making the space feel like home!

RESPONSIBILITES:

Daily responsibilities will include light housekeeping, adapting to the persons schedule while promoting independence, interacting and building meaningful relationships, and integrating the person into your outside life.

EMPLOYMENT:

An aspect of the companionship is employment with Mainstay Life Services as a Direct Support Professional! Mainstay will offer a paid, flexible hour position as a Direct Support Professional, and you will have the opportunity to get paid to work with the person you live with! There are other Mainstay support staff and other family members that are available during the day and night to offer the individual additional support, but when other staff cannot be present, the companion will be there as coverage. As a Direct Support Professional in the Community Services program, and with a starting pay rate of $19.00 per hour, you can play a pivotal role in our efforts to positively impact lives. We are looking for someone who can make a difference in the achievement of personal health and wellness goals, encourage engagement within the community, and explore the unique skills of the people we support so that they can achieve every good thing life has to offer.

LOCATION:

Fox Chapel, PA is the perfect setting for social and community events! You are only minutes away from shopping, restaurants, river walks and nature trails. You also have easy access to downtown Pittsburgh, Bakery Square, and the turnpike.
