General Description The Lift Station Technician I is responsible for the maintenance and operations of all lift stations, sump wells and related pressurized wastewater transmission equipment and appurtenances for the City of Casselberry. The Lift Station Technician I performs routine work well covered by existing policies, stablished procedures and standards or instructions and supervision is readily available.
Open to candidates at the levels of Lift Station Maintenance Worker, Lift Station Technician I, or Lift Station Technician II, depending on qualifications and experience. Examples of Essential Functions Provides service, maintenance, and inspections to City lift stations and related appurtenances. (95%)
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on pumps, gate valves, check valves, plug valves, generators, and their associated fixtures.
- Operates Vac Truck to clean and pump-out wet-wells.
- Assists in the monitoring and maintenance of the lift station SCADA system to ensure efficient and effective operation of the system.
- Maintains instrumentation devices such as pump control units (PCU), telemetry control units (TCU), flow meters, level control devices, and gauges.
- Performs maintenance and repairs on electrical panels, fuses, switches, and wiring at City lift stations.
- Assists in troubleshooting issues that may arise in a lift station, including but not limited to pumps, control device, piping, valving, electrical, etc.
- Maintains assigned tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Maintains yards, landscaping, and fences within lift stations parameters.
- Responds timely to requests and work orders to ensure proper completion of wastewater and lift station repairs and maintenance.
- Performs sod, asphalt, and concrete restoration as needed.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities (5%)
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core values of the City, and consistent with City and Department policies.
- Follows safe working practices and has a working knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Performs after-hours/on-call rotation to respond to emergency repairs.
- Assists in Distribution and Collection activities as needed to obtain licensing and experience.
- Maintains facility and equipment for cleanliness and ongoing functionality.
- Adheres to laws, regulations and policies of the City and of the assigned department. Follows instructions provided by supervisor, Department Director or their designee.
- Completes the identified required or assigned training timely and applies acquired knowledge and/or skills.
- Participates in department meetings, staff meetings and other related activities.
- Maintains, preserves, retains, and disposes public records pursuant to FS Chapter 119.
Emergency Management Role
- Participates as a member of the City staff as required to take action in the event of an emergency.
- Acts in the assigned role to support the City in disaster preparation and/or disaster recovery efforts as described in the City of Casselberry Emergency Management Plan, assigned by supervisor or designee. As a member of the Public Works Department may be responsible for the coordination of the maintenance and/or clearing of roadways, the operability of City's fleet and prevention or drainage of local or area-wide flooding. In addition, as a member of the Public Works Department may be responsible for the maintaining and/or rapidly restoring the operability of the City's water and sewer systems.

A.
Education and Training: A High School Diploma or G.E.D. is required.
B.
Experience: A minimum of three (3) years' experience in operation and maintenance on lift stations, wastewater collection system, or related field is required.
C.
Certificates, Licenses and/or Registrations Required: Must be able to possess and maintain a valid Florida restricted Class B (with tanker and air brakes endorsement) CDL Driver's license, and a Class C Certification in Wastewater System Operation from a DEP approved entity are required. SCADA diagnostic and repair course through DFS or approved equal, and L/S control panel diagnostic and repair course through Barney or approved equal are required; or have the ability to become so certified within six months of employment. A Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check will be made to determine acceptance of past driving record.

- Knowledge (intermediate) of SunGard/NaviLine or similar utilities and work management software.
- Knowledge (intermediate) of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) or similar software.
- Knowledge (intermediate) of ArcMap or similar geographic information system software.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and light/medium equipment.
- Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite, e.g. Outlook, Word, and Excel.

A. Work Environment: This position performs the duties in a field setting. The noise level in the work environment is loud. This position is also frequently exposed to various weather conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, traffic hazards, fumes or airborne particles, noise extremes, slippery or uneven surfaces, and confined spaces. Occasionally, this position may be exposed to risk of electrical shock/explosives.
B. Physical Demands: The primary functions require frequent periods of standing, walking, bending, pushing and pulling, driving, time sitting, using hands to handle or feel and reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally this position will be required to climb or balance, jump, run or throw. In addition, this position may be required to occasionally lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds with or without assistance of another person or utilization of lifting equipment. This position is regularly required to use vision, speech and hearing, with or without assistive devices.
C. Equipment/Tools and Technology Used: This position utilizes the following tools and equipment while performing the duties of the job: Back hoe, track hoe, skid loader, crane, dump truck, city vehicle, Vac-Con, pipes and applicable valves, hand tools (hammer, wrenches, screw drivers, etc.), industry specific tools (plumbing, electrical, diagnostic, ETC), power tools (compressor, jack hammer, chain saw, etc.), cell phone, computer and printer.
D. Employee Infection/Exposure Risk Classification: Category II: Employee performs tasks that do not involve exposure to blood, body fluids or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM), however, employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluids or OPIM, but potential exposures may be required as a condition of employment.
