Senior position.
The BRC BI team supports the following data analytics value chain for enterprise-wide data usage:
This position will lead requirement gathering in collaboration with business customers, sponsor and technical team members to analyze business needs using alternative views, such as user stories, analysis models, or prototypes. This analysis guides the process of finding solutions, designing, and developing new dashboards/reports or enhancing existing ones. It also involves crafting testing plans and scripts, coordinating with the technical team for comprehensive testing, aiding in BI user education including Oracle DV and MS Power BI through Business Resource Center training strategies, standards, and tools, and offering end-user support via BI help desk requests.
Job Duties Key Responsibilities - Successful candidate for the position will be able to demonstrate skill and ability, at a minimum to:
- Requirement Gathering: Lead the effort to define business requirements and propose solutions for analytic dashboards and reports.
- Dashboard Development: Design and develop new dashboards/reports or upgrades to existing ones that require complex calculations.
- Collaboration: Work with business partners in King County's agencies to deliver analytic dashboards and reports using Oracle BI foundation suite, including BI Publisher.
- Business Case Development: Define problems, conduct options analysis, make recommendations, and perform cost/benefit analysis.
- Requirement Documentation: Identify and document requirements, develop alternative approaches or workarounds, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Functional Specifications: Create functional specifications to support Oracle BI systems.
- Testing: Conduct thorough functional testing, including user acceptance testing, to ensure quality migrations to production.
- User Education: Provide BI tool user education to the business community utilizing Business Resource training strategies, standards, and tools.
- System Support: Offer system functional support and user support for the Oracle BI service.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE: - Technical Savvy and Teamwork: Passion for technology and collaborative teamwork.
- Financial and HR Processes: In-depth knowledge of common Financial and HR administrative business processes.
- Oracle EBS Expertise: Proficiency in Oracle's EBS, with PeopleSoft applications as a plus.
- Agile Methodology: Experience designing and developing dashboards using an iterative, business SME (product owner) collaborative, agile methodology.
- Development Tools: Experience with OAC, OAS, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Dimensional Modeling: Understanding of Kimball's dimensional modeling concepts.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact with business and technical partners at all levels of the organization.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Adaptability: Ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize work.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication.
- Team Contribution: Commitment to contributing to team objectives and outcomes.
Supplemental Information Work Schedule : The work week is normally 40 hours, Monday through Friday. Alternative work schedules may be possible. This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and therefore is not eligible for overtime pay.
Union Membership: This position is not represented by a union.
This may be used to generate a pool for future Career Service positions for up to six months.
Work location: The work associated with this position will be performed by teleworking and onsite work as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
